Enabling Legal and Political Empowerment of Women in Uttar Pradesh

Sony Jaiswal was provided training in legal rights as part of UNDP’s partnership with the IKEA Foundation in Uttar Pradesh, Swaayam. The training is helping Sony, now a paralegal worker with the Swaayam project, educate other women in her village about different government schemes, raise awareness on women’s political and legal rights and generate additional income for her family.

In partnership with the IKEA Foundation, the project aims to empower women through an integrated approach that enhances the incomes of women and helps them contribute effectively to decision making in the domestic and public spheres by 2013.
