Highlights
  • Electricity consumption by large commercial buildings accounts for seven percent of the total electricity consumed in India
  • Minimum Energy Performance Standards Code for Commercial Buildings proposed in 2007 Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) is currently not mandatory due to a number of challenges
  • The project aims to operationalize the ECBC in new commercial buildings through institutional capacity development
  • An inception workshop, organized as part of the project, has enabled better understanding of the challenges faced in introducing energy consumption measures
