What is the project about

To ensure that national climate change policies are modified or adapted to meet the needs of the states, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, this project aims to strengthen capacities of state governments and other stakeholders both nationally, and across the states to address climate change challenges.

What Have We Accomplished So Far

What Have We Accomplished So Far
  • A Technical Cell at the Ministry of Environment and Forests has been set up to coordinate capacity building activities at the national and state levels 

  • A common framework for the preparation of state level action plans on climate change has been shared with all the states

  • Ten states/union territories (Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Jharkhand, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand) have been assisted in the preparation of SAPCCs

  • A national consultation workshop on preparing SAPCC in 2010 provided inputs to states on developing their own plans
