• Environment Day Report Awareness Programme

    5th of June is celebrated as the World Environment Day and the week from 5th to 11th of June as the “World Environment Week” in collaboration with UNV, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and many other organizations. Many organizations all over India consider joining hands in order to collectively organize campaigns on issues related to Corporate Sustainability and Environmental matters to have a larger reach and greater impact on such issues.

  • IVD Celebration in Orissa

    United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with local partners - Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) and Bakul Foundation - jointly commemorated the International Volunteer Day (IVD) on 5th December 2009 at Bhubaneswar, Orissa. The theme for this year’s IVD celebration in Orissa was “Volunteering for our Planet”.

    Engaging youth in the community development initiatives is a promising way of providing them opportunities in meaningful ways. They can be very valuable resources to help close the gaps by lending support to developmentally appropriate activities and challenges. Their involvement also strengthens student-centred learning.

  • First National UNV Volunteer Workshop focuses on the MDGs

    UNV India organized a national UNV volunteer workshop from 27 to 28 August in Manesar, Hariyana. The workshop was the first of its kind in India for the more than 75 national UNV volunteers currently working in the country. The theme of the discussion focussed on the eight UN Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) in the run up to this year’s UNV’s International Volunteer Day on 5 December themed “Volunteering for the MDGs”.

  • Seminar on Youth Volunteerism

    A one day seminar on Youth Volunteerism was held on 09 August 2011, at the UN Conference Hall, New Delhi. The Seminar was jointly organized by the Commonwealth Youth Programme(CYP), Asia Center, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and United Nations Volunteers(UNV). The aim of the seminar was to mark the conclusion of International Year of Youth, and observance of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10), first observed in 2001 as per a mandate given by the UN General Assembly with the objective to enhance the recognition, facilitation, networking and promotion of volunteer service.
