  • Seismic Safety of Non-Structural Elements and Contents in Hospital Buildings

    Experience in damaging intensity of earthquakes has shown that buildings are destroyed or damaged to various extents. Also their contents are badly shaken and they fall down by toppling over, or by rolling if resting on rollers or wheels, or by sliding on their supports and crashing down on the floor. Many times such objects injure or even kill the inmates by cutting, piercing or hammering effects.

  • State level Programmes for Strengthening Disaster Management in India

    The study examines the needs and pattern of mobility and migration and its impact on women who either stay at their place of origin or move with their husbands to new destinations. The research also examines their levels of associated risks including socio-psychological problems with decisions relating to migration.

  • Status Report on Standardization Efforts in The Area Of Mitigation Of Natural Hazards

    To mitigate damage to human life from natural hazards such as earthquakes, the Bureau of Indian Standards proposed a range of national standards for the construction industry. The report highlights the status of these efforts in design and construction of earthquake resistant structures.

  • Strategy Report for Hazard Risk Management in India- Consolidated Reply ; Disaster Management Community, Solution Exchange

    Outlines important issues in terms of Disaster Management in India that can be included in a National Hazard Risk Management Strategy Report being prepared by World Bank
