The Government of Ghana acting through the National Development Planning Commission(NDPC) in collaboration with various partners including the United Nations Development Programme, UN Millennium Campaign, Society for International Development and Third World Network-Africa, is hosting a three-day high-level, multi-stakeholder African conference on inequalities from 28th- 30th April, 2014 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The theme of the conference is “Pan-African Conference on Inequalities in the Context of Structural Transformation”.

Ms. Ruby Sandhu-Rojon has said adieu to staff of UNDP and the entire UN family in Ghana in a colorful event held at the forecourt of the UNDP premises on Wednesday, March 13, 2014.The farewell ceremony attended by representatives of Government, Heads of UN agencies, UN staff, civil society groups and other invited guests witnessed several goodwill messages and a citation from colleagues and well-wishers.

As the 2015 end date of the Millennium Development Goals nears, and as discussion on the next global development agenda intensifies, there is strong momentum for achieving development with equity, including by eradicating gender inequality and empowering women and girls.

UNDP launches new programme to help communities recover from the violence in the Central African Republic
Launched today in the capital Bangui, the two-year initiative, which will reach more than 350,000 conflict-affected people, aims to promote social cohesion, rebuild local infrastructure and create short-term employment opportunities in communities that have seen homes and businesses destroyed by the on-going violence.

The Ghana Bamboo Bike Initiative has presented a bamboo bicycle to Ms. Ruby Sandhu-Rojon, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ghana, during a brief ceremony at the UNDP office premises in Ghana. The bicycles have been produced through the UNDP Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme as an innovative means to combat climate change.
