Women Councillors graduate from The Leadership School
Tbilisi. 21 May.2014– 94 women councillors graduate from the Leadership School established within the framework of the UN Joint Programme “To Enhance Gender Equality in Georgia” funded by the Swedish Government. Graduation ceremony was held today at “Didube Plaza”.
Niels Scott, the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations, Elsa Håstad, Assistant Director General of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Guguli Magradze and Gigla Agulashvili, members of the Gender Equality Council of the Parliament congratulated and awarded the graduates with certificates.
The Leadership School programme is designed for local councillors. It is comprised of four modules: 1. Local governance in Georgia and essential skills for elected local government officials; 2 Inspiring excellence in governance – how to influence without authority; 3. Development of key strategies and priorities in changing times; 4. Campaigning for elections.
The majority of course participants are running again for forthcoming local governance elections.
The Leadership School is organised by the Municipal Service Providers’ Association (MSPA) with the support of the UNDP in Georgia.
