Youth Goes Green

TBILISI. 9 December 2013.Young environmentalists from Borjomi, Tsaghveri, Akhaldaba, Zugdidi and Gori took part in a youth conference “Human Influence on Environment” .  

The research projects prepared with assistance from university researchers tackled a range of environmental issues, such as: waste management, extinct species, water safety and the protection of forests.  The schoolchildren also discussed what each of them can do in everyday life to protect environment.

The conference also hosted a presentation of a guidebook for teachers on environmental education at schools.

The emblem of a conference – “Love the Earth”, was designed by one of the participants and selected in a contest.  

The conference in organized by the United Nations Development Programme in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, with funds from the Government of Finland.
