The project is part of a UNDP larger initiative, which helps the Georgian Government to comply with the provisions set by the Montreal Protocol. It assist in phasing out the consumption of ozone-depleting substances (ODS), raising public awareness and in delivering the comprehensive progress reports to the interested parties.

What We Do

We provide assistance in:

  • Conducting all the necessary preparatory activities for the most harmful ozone depleting substance - Hydrochlorofluorocarbons' (HCFCs) freeze in 2013.
  • Collecting and analyzing data over ODSs consumption nationwide
  • Preparing HCFCs Management Plan.
  • Initiating public discussion on ozone-related issues.
  • Disseminating information on new technologies and ODSs alternatives.

Some results so far



  • Information on ODS consumption collected and reported to the MFS and Ozone Secretariat
  • Licensing and quota system for HCFCs introduced
  • National Ozone Unit and Georgian Association of Refrigerating, Cryogenic and Air-Conditioning Engineers (GARCAE) web-pages updated
