Feasibility Assessment of Pastures at Chachuna Area. 2014

This report derives from the field work at the Chachuna area in the Dedoplistskaro region and assesses feasibility of targeted pastures as comparable alternatives for currently used pastures. The report includes botanical data analysis of the area. During the study, local farmers and shepherds were interviewed to study following issues:

  • Property rights documentation of targeted pastures;
  • Summer pastures currently used by Chachuna area farmers;
  • Quality of Natural resources of the study area; 
  • Vegetation types and their spread;
  • Physical-geographical description of Chachuna area;
  • Infrastructure;
  • Existence of the sheep migration routes to Tusheti and Ninotsminda summer pastures;
  • Overall number of Chachuna area shepherds and farmers, their gender and number of owned sheep and other cattle grazed at the pastures sites;
  • Attitude of local farmers toward the studied pastures.
