Tuvalu National Adaptation Plan for Action + (Climate Change Resilience)

Project Summary

The objective of NAPA-I is to increase the protection of livelihoods in island communities from dynamic climate-related damage in all islands and provides a cost-effective means to upscale on-the-ground adaptation support to Tuvalu that is currently being implemented under the LDCF Tuvalu NAPA-I.

What are the Project’s goals?

Expanded area of model demonstration projects of planting mangrove and non-mangrove species planted and maintained by communities in at least the five identified atolls (Funafuti, Nukufetau, Niutao, Nukulaelae and Niulakita); additional 400 cubic metres of fresh water supply and water storage systems capacity provided to support agriculture in at least the four identified atolls (Nanumea, Nui, Vaitupu and Nanumaga); additional 12 plantations of pulaka, breadfruit, and banana cultivation are protected from saline groundwater in at least the three identified atolls (Niutao, Niulakita and Nanumaga).
