Government and UN Meet to Review Assistance Framework
Participants from the various Ethiopian ministries at federal and regional levels met with UN staff to hold a two day meeting in the town of Adama to review the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).
The 18 month UNDAF review was based on the Programme Monitoring Framework which has consolidated the annual workplans of all UN agencies in Ethiopia.
We are attempting to apply a results-based management approach much more rigorously than before” said Eugene Owusu, UNDP Resident Representative, UN Resident Coordinator & UN Humanitarian Coordinator.
State Minister Ahmed Shide’s opening remarks appauled Ethiopia’s partnership with the UN Country Team. He said, “The UN system in Ethiopia has contributed a lot to the achievements of the development results the country enjoyed through both development interventions in the areas of pro-poor sectors.” He added, “We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the UN to improve its coherence, efficiency and effectiveness through the adoption of UN Delivering as One principle.”
The outcomes from the 18 months review workshop is expected to lead to the endorsement of the UN’s strategic direction and help identify lessons to inform any adjustments to the UNDAF Action Plan and the annual work plan for the next fiscal year.
