UNDP China office held the launching workshop of “A Million Voices: The World We Want – A sustainable future with dignity for all” in Beijing on 13 December 2013.

As mentioned by Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, this report synthesized the results of an unprecedented global consultation led the United Nations that has involved more than 1 million people across all countries and from all backgrounds. A special effort was made to reach out the poor, the marginalized and others whose voices are not usually heard. For almost one year, people have engaged energetically in 88 national consultations, 11 thematic dialogues, and through the MY World global survey. As member states consult on the shape and content of a successor framework to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) beyond 2015, it is hoped that the opportunity to listen to these voices will contribute to reaching consensus on what is needed to move towards a common sustainable future.

Mr. Christophe Bahuet, UNDP Country Director chaired the workshop and Mr. Steven Sabey, Deputy Country Director of UNDP China presented the report in the launching workshop. More than 50 participants from embassies, non-government organizations, and relevant organizations attended with active participation in the session of questions and answers during the workshop.
