In 2004, UNDP and the European Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding, called the Strategic Partnership Agreement, which laid the foundation for a strategic partnerhsip between the two organizations.

The European Union and UNDP are natural partners, sharing the same values and objectives for advancing peace and security, human rights and development. We are both committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to supporting countries’ progress and investing in their efforts to end poverty, protect the planet and build prosperity for all.

The European Union is a vital supporter of our work in nearly 140 countries to enhance democratic governance and the rule of law, build resilience and recover from conflict and natural disasters, and adapt to climate change.
