For third consecutive year, the UN Day was celebrated in October 2012 at an interactive information village on the Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Over five thousand people converged on the town square to learn about the main actions of the UN.
Celebrate the UN Day in Brussels!
Come and celebrate the 68th birthday of the United Nations and meet the team from the 26 offices of the UN in Brussels at the Grand Place on Sunday, 20 October from 11h00 to 17h00.
This event will showcase the work of the UN in the field and give an opportunity to the public to interact with the UN team in Brussels. Key activities of the Day will include:
- A photo exhibition on the history and the work of the UN.
- Information village to present the UN actions in the fields of human rights, peace and security, humanitarian assistance and development.
- Music and games.
- Sustainable food, including quinoa.
The event, coordinated by the UN Regional Information Centre (UNRIC), is organized by the UN in Brussels in partnership with the City of Brussels and Brussels Majors Events (BME).

UN team in Brussels
The United Nations team brings together 26 specialized agencies, funds and programmes spanning the development, humanitarian and human rights work of the UN. The team works to build understanding and support for UN system activities within the EU institutions and amongst a wider public in Europe.
