AGORA, the Portal for Parliamentary Development, launches in Arabic

18 Mar 2013

AGORA, the Portal for Parliamentary Development, is proud to announce the launch of its Arabic Portal. This Portal is developed to meet the increased demands for parliamentary development assistance from the Arab States following the Arab Spring, and will be actively engaging with parliamentary actors in the region.

Based at UNDP Brussels, the AGORA Portal is a leading knowledge hub on parliamentary development jointly implemented by UNDP, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, the World Bank Institute and the National Democratic Institute. AGORA also works closely with the European Union: the European Parliament’s Office for the Promotion of Parliamentary Development is an official Partner to the AGORA project, and the European Commission has made several contributions to AGORA since its launch in 2010.

AGORA public website contains the largest set of resources on parliamentary development currently available.  Its private-member platform, the Trusted Area, offers a unique networking space for knowledge sharing among the parliamentary development Community of Practice.  Beyond this, AGORA provides capacity-building assistance through a range of training materials available on its Portal and through workshops and activities in the field.

At the occasion of the Arabic launch, AGORA is organizing an E-discussion on ‘The Challenges and Needs of First-Time Parliamentarians’.  This E-discussion is available in English, French and Arabic and can be followed here.

AGORA is now available in English, French, Spanish, Russian and Arabic.
