Overview

UNDP’s Representation Office in Brussels partners with the institutions of the European Union (EU). Together with our EU-partners, we want to promote and advance the development agenda and international UN standards – such as Millennium Development Goals and human rights – both in EU policy discussions and in the external action of the European Union. More about the framework of the partnership

UNDP-EU partnership on the ground

Our partnership adds value at the policy level which in itself is important. However, our overarching goal is to translate these norms into practical realities – above all for the poorest and most vulnerable members of the human family. UNDP and the EU work together on programmes and projects in over 100 countries. In the menu on the left, you can find more information about what we do together in the different practice areas of UNDP, as well as stories from the field, where our beneficiaries tell us how the UNDP-EU partnership has helped them improve their lives. In 2009, the country imported about 80 percent of its domestic food requirements. This dependency makes Cuba very vulnerable to increases in international food prices. more

Bangladesh is "building back better" with UNDP-EU support

Suraiya Khatun watched helplessly as the storm surge from cyclone Aila washed her house away, leaving her with nothing to eat and nowhere to go. “I lost my house as well as eight goats, 20 ducks and ten sacks of rice. I’ve been working as a day labourer ever since,” said Suraiya, 45, a survivor from Kedarbazar, one of the hardest hit villages on the Bangladesh coastline. more
