Launch of a photo competition I am a ‘Tree Hugger’ to celebrate International Biodiversity Day and World Environment Day
Objective: Create awareness among the general public on the importance of Biodiversity and its values and to create awareness on the importance of trees and forests. The Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan states that Bhutan should maintain 60% forest cover for all times.
Who can participate: All Bhutanese and foreigners who are in Bhutan can participate in this competition. No restriction on age, gender or place.
How to participate: Its simple! Hug a tree and become a ‘Tree Hugger’ or ‘Tree Huggers’. Take a reasonable quality photograph by any camera and upload it on Facebook and Instagram and hashtag it as #TreeHuggerBhutan.
Why Hug Tree(s): Trees are more than a friend. They help us breathe. They help us live. It’s time to thank a tree for all that it has given us. Let’s show some extra love this time. Let’s hug a tree.
When: Post a photograph on Facebook and Instagram and hashtag it #TreeHuggerBhutan before 5:00 pm, June 2.
The winners of the photo competition will be announced through UNDP Facebook page.

The best entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges.
The organizers reserve the right to use the submitted pictures for any future purpose without the approval of photographers/persons photographed.
