Parliament Secretariat team visits Sri Lankan

An eight-member delegation of Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat visited the Parliament of Sri Lanka from August 25 to August 30, 2013.
The objective of the study visit was to share experience and knowledge on the ICT enabled strategic management within the Parliament, and how strategic intent is implemented through ICT services.
The Parliament of Sri Lanka introduced the ICT Strategic Planning since 2004 and has become one of the best practices of parliamentary ICT strategic plans.
In line with the Vision 2021 of the Government of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Parliament is also working to implement the ICT Strategic Plan which was developed through a series of participatory consultations with MPs and senior officials from the Parliament Secretariat in 2012 within the framework of the UNDP supported IPD Project. The ICT Strategic Plan was endorsed by the Honorable Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament in July 2013.
As part of efforts to implement the plan in Bangladesh Parliament, the eight – member Secretariat team led by Mr. Pranab Chakraborty, Additional Secretary (IPA) and National Project Director, IPD Project, visited the implementation of ICT Strategy facilities of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. The delegation exchanged views with the Deputy Speaker, Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General, a number of MPs and relevant officials of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
Other members of the delegation from Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat were Mr. Md. Elias, Senior System Analyst (e-Services Management); Mr. A N M Khalilur Rahman Khan, Senior System Analyst (Database Management); Ms. Maleka Parvin; Deputy Director-Technical (Library & Research) and Mr. Muhammad Nahid Rassel, ICT Manager, UNDP IPD Project.
