Minister of Foreign Affairs received newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan

Today, October 30, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov received the newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator and UN Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative in Azerbaijan Antonius Bernardus Broek.

Minister Mammadyarov congratulated Antonius Bernardus Broek on his appointment and expressed confidence that the UN activities in his tenure would contribute to further broadening of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN institutions. Minister Mammadyarov highlighted Azerbaijan's international development aid policy and emphasized that the government of Azerbaijan has established a special agency - Azerbaijan International Development Agency -  in order to coordinate the country's international aid activities. The Minister also informed Mr. Broek about development aid projects that are underway and noted the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNDP in that respect.

UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan Antonius Broek presented a copy of the letter of credentials to the Foreign Minister. He noted that he looks forward to working in Azerbaijan and expressed appreciation of the measures taken by the Azerbaijani authorities to support international development aid. 

They also exchanged views on concrete projects and discussed new avenues for collaboration between Azerbaijan and the UN institutions.
