Our Work - Poverty Reduction

UNDP works to fight poverty in Afghanistan despite the profound agricultural challenges, including the lack of rural entrepreneurship, lack of access to financing and a weak private sector is a major hindrance to economic growth and job creation. Harsh climatic and geographical conditions dominate most of the territory, combined with the long years of conflict followed by the rapid population growth, have led to uncontrolled and unsustainable use of natural resources. UNDP provides considerable support for government’s capacity and institutional building.
