Climate Change Interventions in the Africa Region

Engaging the private sector - learning by doing CDM Capacity Development in South Africa. Included the organization of a Project Development Forum and also taking a private sector entrepreneur through the CDM project cycle to prepare a bankable project. Funded by UNF. Completed June 2003

Lessons learned from past and ongoing CDM Activities - Paper being prepared for a BDP publication.

Water Governance & Adaptive Capacity: Project being discussed with the Government of Mozambique. UNDP Mozambique is assisting and is fully on board.

One-day Climate Change workshop on CDM and Adaptation organized for the Central African region in Kigali - March 2003

Use of SURF networks for knowledge transfer and validation of adaptation and climate change strategies. the CC program made extensive use of SURF Africa network to provide updated information and receive constructive feedback reflecting the needs of the region on climate change issues. Poverty and Climate Change: Reducing the Vulnerability of the Poor through Adaptation and the UNDP CDM Manual were also circulated to the energy and environment focal points through the SURF network.
