Regional Coordinator for Biodiversity and International Waters

Tim has been involved with environmental programmes of the United Nations since 1994. He worked with UNEP in the area of project design and evaluation, as well as the UNEP-GEF land degradation portfolio in Africa. With UNDP-GEF since 1999, he is currently Regional Coordinator for Biodiversity and International Waters, Asia-Pacific. The focus of his work is supporting the UNDP offices of China, South-East Asia and the Pacific with the GEF project cycle. His portfolio covers GEF-funded projects in the areas of wetlands, coastal and marine management, forests and terrestrial landscapes, agrobiodiversity, biodiversity governance and institutional capacity development.

Before joining the United Nations, Tim was a Scientific Researcher (Biodiversity and Land Degradation) with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industry Research Organisation (CSIRO), Division of Wildlife and Ecology, Australia.

Tim holds a Masters degree in Environmental Management and Development from the National Centre for Development Studies, Australian National University, Canberra. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne. His previous diverse work experience includes the foreign exchange trade in London and corporate tax law in Melbourne.
