Capacity
2015 Asia Strategy
The Strategic Framework for Capacity 2015 Asia Capacity 2015 (Cap2015) Asia draws on the rich experience of national and regional Cap21 programmes and other capacity development programmes implemented in Asia over the past decade by UNDP and its partner-agencies and other stakeholders in the region. Cap2015 Asia, through partnerships with key national, regional, and sub-regional partner organisations, will focus on building the capacities of communities and local stakeholders in preparing for and meeting evolving sustainable development challenges. Cap2015 builds partnerships designed to empower communities and nations to determine the policies and implement the practices needed to assure sustainability of the development outcomes captured in the Millennium Development Goals. Cap2015 adheres to the following set of principles: a) capacity development and sustainability of development outcomes: b) broad-based partnerships; c) responsive to locally, legitimately determined needs; d) holistic; and e) rights-based and gender sensitive. Cap2015 Asia provides a regional platform for partnering and sharing experience in addressing cross-cutting aspects around capacity development and sustainability that are critical for goal realization. As a platform Cap2015 Asia provides a window for UNDP and its partners to contribute to sustainable development efforts, both through the UNDP Practice Areas and in dealing with crosscutting issues that are the operational focus of Cap2015. As a programme Cap2015 Asia will support countries in identifying operational strategies and making interventions for meeting the MDGs, at national, local government , and community levels.
