'National Implementation' Capacity

In addition to the capacity development work UNDP undertakes around specific thematic areas like poverty reduction, environment and energy, democratic governance and crisis prevention and recovery, UNDP also works with national partners to enhance their ability to effectively implement change and deliver expected development results. The support offered by this programme, known as ‘National Implementation Capacities’, looks at how to manage a programme or project, coordinate aid and resources, manage finances and procure goods and services, for example.

To support and strengthen the National Implementation Capacities programme, UNDP, in partnership with the Danish International Development Agency DANIDA, launched a UN Procurement Capacity Development Centre (PCDC) in January 2008. The PCDC focuses on procurement but also addresses other implementation capacities. For further information please refer to www.unpcdc.org.
