Selected GEF biodiversity projects:
>> National Biodiversity Conservation Strategy and Action Plan and Country Report to CBD:
The Biodiversity Enabling Activity for Mali will assist the Ministry of Rural Development and Environment (MDRE) and the Comité Interministériel du Suivi (CIS) in developing a National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (BSAP). The BSAP will build on and reinforce other existing national strategies and plans, such as the National Environmental Action Plan. The project will allow Mali to meet its obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).>> Arid rangeland biodiversity conservation:
This project targets the GEF Operational Programme 1 (arid and semi-arid ecosystems) with the objective that biodiversity degradation trends are reversed in selected conservation areas and stabilized elsewhere in the Gourma.>> Clearing house mechanism enabling activity:
This project will assist the national government to meet its obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity.
