Latin America and the Caribbean

The Latin American and Caribbean region consists of 44 countries and approximately 515 million people. While the past 25 years have been marked by enormous progress in the consolidation of democracy and improved access to education health and basic services, the region is still dealing with the aftereffects of violent conflict, socio-economic inequalities and natural disasters.
