UNDP Annual Report 2005
A Time for Bold Ambition
Together We Can Cut Poverty in Half
As the global community accelerates the drive to reach the
Millennium Development Goals, it faces an historic opportunity. With the review
of the Millennium Summit in 2005 and following a series of groundbreaking UN
reports, now is the time to strike a grand bargain that will ensure global
prosperity and a safer world for all. The MDG agenda of halving extreme poverty
by 2015 may be ambitious, but it is within reach, offering the clearest roadmap
for an increasingly interconnected future. UNDP's 2005 Annual Report chronicles
what UNDP, on the ground in 166 countries, does to help achieve the MDGs. The
report demonstrates how our extensive internal reform has left us better
positioned than ever before in supporting countries on MDG basics: developing
capacity, sharing knowledge, working in partnerships and advocating the case
for change.
