Newsroom![]() UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Drogba fights poverty in a new advertisement Geneva (14 July 2009) - Didier Drogba, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Goodwill Ambassador, is teaming up against poverty on a new UNDP advertisement to garner support for achieving the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Africa. World-renowned photographer Rankin photographed the football star for this series of UNDP pro bono advertisements. The advertisement is part of a campaign that revolves around the concept of "Teaming Up Against Poverty" to achieve the MDGs. ![]() UNDP Guide Seeks to Strengthen Commodities Exports for Developing Countries Geneva (10 July 2009) - A new publication from the UN Development Programme, Commodity Development Strategies in the Integrated Framework has emerged from the recognition of the fact that primary commodities including agricultural and mineral commodities are the main source of income, employment and trade for most poor countries. Development of this sector offers hope for reducing poverty, especially amongst marginalized groups like small farm producers and women. ![]() New Guide Seeks to Strengthen Trade Capacity of Poor Countries Geneva (6 July 2009) - While the development debate on how to best solve the world’s poverty challenges usually fluctuates between calls for more aid or more trade, a new guide released today from the United Nations promotes both aid and trade, with a better and more efficient use of assistance provided. The project, part of an international cooperation initiative called ART (Articulating Territorial and Thematic Networks of Cooperation for Human Development) was designed in close cooperation between the national government, the UNDP country office, and a team from the Geneva-based HUB for Innovative Partnerships.
